 Article 1 (Purpose of Establishment)
The Armed Forces Nursing Academy shall be established under the control of the Minister of National Defense for the purpose of providing persons who intend to become a nurse officer of the Armed Forces with necessary education.

 Article 2 (Years Required for Graduation)
The years required for graduation from the Armed Forces Nursing Academy (hereinafter referred to as the "Nursing Academy") shall be four years.

 Article 3 (Qualification for Admission)
A person who intends to enter the Nursing Academy shall meet the following requirements: <Amended on Sep. 1, 2015; Apr. 13, 2021>
1. The person shall not be less than 17 nor more than 21 years of age and shall be unmarried: Provided, That where the person is a veteran under Article 16 (1) or (2) of the Support for Veterans Act, the maximum age for admission shall be extended as prescribed by Presidential Decree;
2. The person shall not be disqualified under Article 10 (2) of the Military Personnel Management Act;
3. The person shall have the educational background required in Article 33 (1) of the Higher Education Act;
4. The person shall meet the physical standards prescribed by the rules of the Nursing Academy.

 Article 4 (Military Register)
A person admitted to the Nursing Academy shall be registered in the military register of military cadets on the date of admission.

 Article 5 (Curriculum)
(1) The curriculum of the Nursing Academy shall be divided into military courses and general courses, and matters concerning the military courses shall be prescribed by the Minister of National Defense, while matters concerning the general courses shall be prescribed by the Minister of National Defense in consultation with the Minister of Education. <Amended on Mar. 23, 2013>
(2) The curriculum under paragraph (1) shall be sufficient for conferment of degrees. <Newly Inserted on Apr. 23, 2019>
(3) As to the general courses under paragraph (1) and facilities for such courses, provisions applicable to universities and colleges in the Higher Education Act shall apply mutatis mutandis.

 Article 6 (Appointment of Superintendent)
(1) The Nursing Academy shall have one Superintendent and any necessary public officials (including military persons and civilian military employees; hereinafter the same shall apply), as prescribed by Presidential Decree.
(2) The Superintendent shall be appointed by the Minister of National Defense from among general-level officers. <Amended on Mar. 21, 2017>

 Article 7 (Qualification for and Appointment of Professors)
(1) As to job categories and qualifications for persons who take charge of general courses among the public officials under Article 6 (1), Article 16 of the Higher Education Act shall apply mutatis mutandis.
(2) Among the persons taking charge of general courses under paragraph (1), professors and associate professors shall be appointed by the President with a recommendation by the Minister of National Defense, assistant professors shall be appointed by the Minister of National Defense with a recommendation by the Superintendent, and teaching assistants shall be appointed by the Superintendent. <Amended on Jul. 21, 2011>
(3) The President may delegate his/her authority of appointing professors and associate professors pursuant to paragraph (2) to the Minister of National Defense, as prescribed by Presidential Decree.

 Article 7-2 (Mutatis Mutandis Application of the Public Educational Officials Act)
Any person who is neither a military person nor a civilian military employee among those who take charge of general courses shall be a public official in special service, and Article 11-3 of the Public Educational Officials Act shall apply mutatis mutandis to his/her appointment period, while the respective provisions of the Public Educational Officials Act and the Special Act on the Improvement of Teachers’ Status and Protection of Their Educational Activities shall apply mutatis mutandis to remunerations, education and training, status guarantee, disciplinary actions, and appeals. <Amended on Feb. 3, 2016>

 Article 8 (Commission of Graduates)
(1) A graduate from the Nursing Academy who successfully passes the national nursing examination shall be commissioned as a second lieutenant.
(2) A person who fails to be commissioned as a second lieutenant pursuant to paragraph (1) shall be removed from the military register.

 Article 9 (Qualification of Graduates)
A person who is commissioned as a second lieutenant pursuant to Article 8 (1) shall be given a bachelor's degree in nursing and the procedure for the grant and registration of the degree shall be governed by the provisions of the Higher Education Act.

ADDENDA <Act No. 2828, Dec. 31, 1975>
(1) (Enforcement Date) This Act shall enter into force on the date of its promulgation.
(2) (Transitional Measure concerning Enrolled Students) Persons enrolled in the Armed Forces Nursing School under the Decree on the Armed Forces Nursing School at the time this Act enters into force shall be deemed persons enrolled in the Armed Forces Nursing School established under this Act.
(3) (Transitional Measure concerning Qualification of Graduates) As to persons enrolled in the Armed Forces Nursing School provided for in the Decree on the Armed Forces Nursing School at the time this Act enters into force, Articles 8 through 10 shall apply, while persons who had graduated from the Armed Forces Nursing School under the Decree on the Armed Forces Nursing School (including nursing schools under paragraphs (3) and (4) of the Addenda to the aforesaid Decree) and who were commissioned as nursing officers before this Act enters into force shall be also qualified as graduates from a junior college specializing in nursing, and Article 10 shall apply to persons among them who are currently in military service at the time this Act enters into force.

(1) (Enforcement Date) This Act shall enter into force on the date of its promulgation.
(2) (Transitional Measure concerning Enrolled Students) Persons who are enrolled in the Armed Forces Nursing School prescribed in previous provisions at the time this Act enters into force shall be deemed persons enrolled in the Armed Forces Nursing Academy prescribed by this Act.
(3) (Transitional Measure concerning Graduates) Persons who graduated from the Armed Forces Nursing School under previous provisions and were qualified as a graduate from a junior college specializing in nursing before this Act enters into force shall be treated as a graduate from the Armed Forces Nursing Academy under this Act and may transfer to a university or college under the Education Act.

(1) (Enforcement Date) This Act shall enter into force on January 1, 1981.
(2) (Transitional Measure concerning Enrolled Students) Persons who are enrolled as a first-year student or second-year student in the Armed Forces Nursing Academy prescribed in previous provisions at the time this Act enters into force shall be deemed persons enrolled as a first-year student or second-year student in the Armed Forces Nursing Academy prescribed by this Act.
