The purpose of this Decree is to prescribe matters mandated by the Act on the Establishment of the Korea National University of Heritage and matters necessary for the enforcement thereof.
The location of the Korea National University of Heritage (hereinafter referred to as "KNUH") under Article 2 (2) of the Act on the Establishment of the Korea National University of Heritage (hereinafter referred to as the "Act") shall be the Chungcheongnam-Do, but some of its facilities may be located in other regions.
| Article 3 (Appointment of teachers) |
| (1) | In accordance with Article 5 (5) of the Act, the faculty members, teaching assistants, adjunct faculty members, invited faculty members, honorary professors, part-time lecturers, etc. (hereinafter referred to as "adjunct faculty member, etc.") shall be appointed by the president of the university, and matters regarding the appointment of staff members shall be governed by the statutes and regulations on the personnel management of public officials, such as the State Public Officials Act. |
| (2) | The number of faculty and staff members and teaching assistants according to Article 5 (5) of the Act shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Decree on the Organization of the Korea Heritage Service. <Amended on May 14, 2024> |
| Article 4 (School Regulations) |
| (1) | The school regulations under Article 6 (1) of the Act (hereinafter referred to as "the school regulations") shall prescribe the following matters: <Amended on Apr. 7, 2020> |
| 1. | Department, major and student quota; |
| 2. | Term of school years, years of school enrollment, semesters, number of school days, and holidays; |
| 3. | Admission, re-admission, transfer admission, leave of absence, return to school, transfer or change of major between recruitment units, voluntary withdrawal, expulsion fro school, repeating a grade, completion and graduation; |
| 4. | Types and awards of degrees; |
| 5. | Management of curricula, units of completion of subjects, and grades; |
| 6. | Multiple majors and credit recognition; |
| 7. | Registration and application for courses; |
| 8. | Open lectures and special courses; |
| 9. | Teaching hours of faculty members; |
| 10. | Students autonomous activities such as the student council; |
| 11. | Student awards and discipline; |
| 12. | Collection of tuition, admission fees, and other fees; |
| 13. | Matters regarding scholarship payment; |
| 15. | Matters regarding the faculty council; |
| 16. | Other matters delegated to the school regulations under the statutes and regulations or necessary for the operation of the KNUH. |
| (2) | Deleted. <Apr. 7, 2020> |
| (3) | If the president intends to establish or revise the school regulations, he or she must undergo deliberation and resolution by the university council under paragraph (1) 14 in advance. <Amended on Apr. 7, 2020> |
The KNUH shall have not more than 3 colleges under Article 7 (1) of the Act.
| Article 6 (Graduate schools) |
| (1) | The KNUH shall have 1 general graduate school, 2 or fewer specialized graduate schools, and 1 special graduate school, under Article 8 (1) of the Act. <Amended on Nov. 10, 2020> |
| (2) | The main educational purposes of general graduate schools, specialized graduate schools, and special graduate schools under paragraph (1) are as follows: <Amended on Nov. 10, 2020; May 7, 2024> |
| 1. | General graduate school: Basic theories and advanced academic research on the preservation, management, and utilization of traditional culture and national heritage; |
| 2. | Specialized graduate school: Application of practical theories and research and development necessary for training personnel in professional occupations that preserve, manage, and utilize traditional culture and national heritage; |
| 3. | Special graduate school: Continuing education for professionals or general adults who preserve, manage, and utilize traditional culture and national heritage. |
| (3) | Degree courses to be offered in graduate schools under paragraph (1) shall be classified as follows: <Amended on Nov. 10, 2020> |
| 1. | General graduate school: Master's degree program and doctoral degree program; |
| 2. | Specialized graduate school: Master's degree programs; provided, a doctoral degree program may be established, as prescribed by the school regulations; |
| 3. | Special graduate school: Master's degree programs. |
| (4) | The types of degrees for each course according to Article 8 (2) of the Act are as follows: <Amended on Nov. 10, 2020> |
| 1. | Master's and doctoral degree programs at general graduate schools: Academic degree; |
| 2. | Master's and doctoral degree programs at specialized graduate schools: Specialized degrees; provided, if necessary due to the characteristics of an academic science, academic degrees may be conferred as prescribed by the school regulations; |
| 3. | Master's degree program at special graduate schools: Specialized degree. |
| (5) | Each graduate school and department affiliated with the graduate school shall have the dean or chair, respectively, yet the dean of a graduate school shall be appointed from among professors or associate professors, and the chair of a department affiliated with the graduate school shall be appointed from among professors, associate professors, or assistant professors. |
| Article 7 (Degree programs of graduate schools) |
| (1) | Graduate schools may offer the following degree programs: |
| 2. | Cooperative courses jointly established and operated by 2 or more departments or majors; |
| 3. | Academic-research-industry cooperative courses established and operated under a contract with a research institute or an industry (including academic-research or academic-industry cooperative courses). |
| (2) | The KNUH may offer an integrated course of a bachelor's degree and a master's degree. |
| (3) | Matters necessary for the establishment and operation of the academic-research-industry cooperative courses under paragraph (1) 3 shall be determined by the school regulations. |

| Article 9 (Student enrollment capacity) |
The president shall adjust and determine the total student quota in consideration of the demand outlook for traditional culture personnel and the capacity of the KNUH in accordance with Article 9 of the Act, and the student quota for each course, department, and major shall be determined by the school regulations.
| Article 10 (Admission qualifications) |
| (1) | The president may select students for the bachelor's program through special selection from among national heritage repair engineers and national heritage repair technicians who have acquired qualifications under the Act on National Heritage Maintenance under Article 11 (2) of the Act and have at least 10 years of practical experience. <Amended on May 7, 2024> |
| (2) | Except as otherwise provided for in paragraph (1), matters regarding general selection or special selection shall be prescribed by the school regulations. |
| Article 11 (Term of school years) |
The term of school years that can be shortened in accordance with Article 12 (3) of the Act shall be classified as follows: | 1. | Bachelor's degree program: within 1 year; |
| 2. | Integrated courses for bachelor's and master's degrees: within 1 year; |
| 3. | Master's degree program and doctoral degree program: within six months, respectively. |
| Article 12 (Operation of education center for traditional culture) |
| (1) | The Heritage Education Institute under Article 14 (1) of the Act (hereinafter referred to as the "HEI") shall operate a specialized traditional culture program for national heritage repair engineers, national heritage supervisors, design examiners under the Act on National Heritage Maintenance, and public officials in the State or local governments, public institutions, or workers in the field of national heritage in a foreign country under paragraph (2) of that Article. <Amended on Nov. 10, 2020; May 7, 2024> |
| (2) | The HEI shall operate social studies courses in traditional culture, which includes the following matters, for the general public under Article 14 (3) of the Act: <Added on Nov. 10, 2020; May 7, 2024> |
| 1. | Humanities and cultural education on traditional culture and national heritage; |
| 2. | Traditional craft experience education; |
| 3. | Region-specific education on traditional culture and national heritage. |
| (3) | Except as otherwise provided for in paragraphs (1) and (2), matters necessary for the operation of the HEI shall be prescribed by the school regulations. <Amended on Nov. 10, 2020> |
| Article 13 (Appurtenant facilities) |
| (1) | The research facilities, annexed facilities, and other necessary facilities under Article 15 (1) of the Act (hereinafter referred to as "appurtenant facilities, etc.") are as specified in the Annex. |
| (2) | The appurtenant facilities, etc. shall be appointed from among the dean of relevant college or graduate school or chair of a department; yet if necessary, the school regulations may provide otherwise. |
| (3) | The head of appurtenant facilities, etc. shall exercise overall control over the affairs under his/her jurisdiction under the direction of the president of a university or the dean of relevant college or graduate school, and direct and supervise the teachers and staff under his/her jurisdiction. |
| Article 14 (Subordinate organizations) |
Regarding the subordinate organizations under Article 16 of the Act, the Decree on the Organization of the Korea Heritage Service shall apply. <Amended on May 14, 2024>
| Article 15 (Monthly salary) |
If a professor, associate professor, or assistant professor concurrently holds the position of dean of a college, chair of department affiliated with a college, dean of a graduate school, chair of a department affiliated with the graduate school, head of appurtenant facilities, etc., or head of a subordinate organization, expenses necessary for performing the position may be paid within budgetary limits set for the relevant year, based on a certain percentage of the total salary, end-of-term allowance, and regular attendance allowance of the professor, associate professor, or assistant professor, according to the standards determined by the president of the university.
| Article 16 (Standards for placement of faculty) |
| (1) | The KNUH shall secure the number of faculty members obtained by dividing the fixed number of students for each department based on the year of completion of organization by the number of students per faculty member classified as follows: |
| 1. | Humanities and social sciences: 25 students; |
| 2. | Natural sciences, engineering, and arts: 20 students, respectively. |
| (2) | In calculating the number of teachers to be secured under paragraph (1), the fixed number of students by field of study means the number of students calculated by aggregating the number of students for a bachelor's degree and the number of students twice as many as those for a graduate school. |

This Decree shall enter into force on July 15, 2012.
Article 2 (Repeal of other statutes or regulations)
The Korean Traditional Culture School Establishment Ordinance shall be abolished.
